    Object Server, ASP 0177 (0x800401F3) Invalid ProgID

    Hi,

    I'm a beginner at ISS and Visual Interdev Development so I'm having a problem
    where I would like a help to solve .
    The problem occurs whem I try to get and display some datas from a MSACESS
    table. It runs ok in development ( Interdev ) but shows the following error
    in browser view :

    "Error type: Object Server, ASP 0177 (0x800401F3) Invalid ProgID
    /StatU/global.asa, line 52
    /StatU/_ScriptLibrary/pm.asp, line 160
    browser type: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT 5.0) "

    Codes :

    GlobalAsa (line 52)

    Set DE = Server.CreateObject("DERuntime.DERuntime")
    Application("DE") = DE.Load(Server.MapPath("Global.ASA"), "_private/DataEnvironment/DataEnvironment.asa")

    pm.asp (line 160)

    DE = Server.CreateObject('DERuntime.DERuntime');
    DE.Init(Application('DE'));

    My environment is :

    Development machine :

    W2000 professional
    Visual Interdev
    IE 5.5

    Web Server Machine
    W 2000 professional
    IIS

    thanks, Rodrigo

    I'm also having this error on this line of code

    set fsReports = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

    Is this a missing dll file if so what is the name?

    You're not the first on this one.

    First try:
    1. Find all instances of scrrun.dll on your hard drive.
    2. Un-register all of them with c:\winnt\system32>regsvr32 [path]\scrrun.dll
    /u
    3. Register all of them with c:\winnt\system32>regsvr32 [path]\scrrun.dll
    4. Re boot

    If that doesn't work, tr reinstalling Visual Basic and/or Visual Interdev.

    That should do it.

    Whoops! Pardon my last post. I clicked "post" by mistake.

    Anyhow, what I meant to say was you might also want to ensure you've installed
    a recent version of the MSDAC. Download at: http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm

    can you post your code where you get the error and then maybe we can see what
    is wrong

    Dear InterDev programmers,

    I have the same problem as you all had. But the solutions seem to be very easy.

    According to Microsoft (Article ID:197966 April 21th,2001 http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;197966 ) the computer where you are working on has MS Interdev installed, but it is probably not installed on the computer where your MS IIS is running.

    You need to copy the “Msderun.dll” on that machine and register it, or easier solution just install a copy of Visual Studio on that machine.

    Good luck

    I have a similar problem AFTER I have tinkered with Visual Studio 2005.

    Here is the web page and the error message:

    <%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="1252"%>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>testasp</title>
    </head>

    <body>
    <% Response.Write("We")
    Dim d ' Create a variable.
    Dim r
    Set r = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    Set d = Server.CreateObject("Scripting.Dictionary") <!--This is the problem, line 14-->

    %>
    </body>
    </html>

    Error Type:
    Server object, ASP 0177 (0x800401F3)
    Invalid class string
    /WebSite/Untitled-1.asp, line 14

    I have followed all the advice given above, but it still doesn't work. It worked before I started running ASP.NET pages in Visual Studio.

    It doesn't complain about the recordset creation, so it couldn't be a permissions problem, could it? I've re-registered scrrun.dll and given it permissions in the registry. I can't find anything else I haven't tried. Please help.

    Thumbs up Hi guys

    Here's one solution I've found over the internet as a response to this problem:

    Error Type: Server object, ASP 0177 (0x800401F3)
    Invalid class string

    Run Regedit then go to

    1. KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes/CLASS_NAME
    (Keep in mind that CLASS_NAME will be replaced with the class name you are trying to instantiate)
    Right click on it and then Permissions. Allow Full Access for SYSTEM and Administrator. (To be sure it works I've added "CREATOR OWNER" and "Users" users and allow Full Access to those too)

    2. KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes/CLASS_NAME has a folder called CLASSID under it. Click on it and on the right side will appear the code of the class. This code you will type it in place of CLASS_ID in the following step

    3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Classes/CLSID/{CLASS_ID} and add the same permissions as in the step 1. Restart the computer and try run the script (It worked for me)

    Good luck.
    Andras
