j2me speech recognition

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anybody has any experience in writing small apps for mobile j2me devices which incorporate speech rec. functionality?

Basically i'm trying to find out what librarys are supported, and any particular ones that are advised.

What im trying to achieve is to allow a user to call functions via his/her voice on a blackberry device.

Any help is much appreciated.

It is my understanding that the Java Speech API is not for J2ME, but there are several different implementations you can look at, including the FreeTTS project at Sourceforge. Check links to FreeTTS and other implementations here:

thanks - i've seen several of the different implementations and deduced that they weren't for j2me also!

From what i could see FreeTTS was in this category al
Obviously mobile device developers must have access to some sort of voice api, do you have any ideas of where to look for hints?

The confusing thing is that JSR 113 is part of the j2me spec but i cant find anywhere that actually confirms this.

Currently i have added the source from the CloudGarden project to the class part and this allows me to import javax.speech, however now im getting preverification errors!
