Equivalent code for VB's GetChunk in java

I am having a problem in retrieving a image stored in SQL Server.
The image is stored using AppendChunk method in VB, I have to retrieve the image from java,I tried retrieving the image by both getting as bytes and as a binary stream and storing the data to a file, but I am not able to see the image. I feel that there may be some conversion algorithm between AppendChunk & GetChunk methods in VB. Can anybody tell the equivalent implementation logic in java.
