    Access DB on local IIS

    Hi,

I want to access an MS Access database that is located in a subfolder of the webroot of my local IIS server, using an ordinary OLEDB connection.

What should I set the datasource in the connection string as?

I don't want to specify a file system path to the database.

    Thanks

You have to tell OLEDB where the database is...if you aren't comfortable using straight text because the path is a file system path then you can either:

    Encrypt the path string
Move the database to a less sensitive folder path

No what I meant was can you use someting a URL as a path instead of an absolute path.

e.g. http://localhost/folder/database.mdb or something, instead of
    c:\inetpub....

Or is the OLEDB connection not supposed to be used like this?

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I understand now.

Here is a great (at least I thought so) article on using and understanding Paths In ASP.NET.

In addition, this is a bit more generic, but it does go over some fundamental Security Practices
