    Ajax, cookie request

Hello. I am making a login form that uses Ajax to talk to the login process (php script). I am making a "remember me" feature with it as well. The login process script actually encrypts the content for the cookie. Is it possible for the login process script to also set the actual cookie in the browser (using php's setcookie()) even though the script is being called by Ajax? Or do I have to set the cookie using javascript? Thanks
