    auto scrolling a text area.

    I know this may seem like a no brainer but...

    in major chat programs the message window autoscrolls as more content is
    added to it. How would you do this with a JTextArea inside a JScrollPane?

    Thanks

    I don't know if this is the best way, but try:

    /* force test area to scroll */
    yourTextArea.setCaretPosition(yourTextArea.getText().length());

    Afer you append the text to the TextArea.
