Oracle 8i "Downloadable" Trial version, is is a FULL working version ???
Hello.
I was trying to download Oracle 8i Enterprise Ediion and install it on a
Windows 2000 Server
Install was pretty easy....however I couldn't connect to a database with
that Repository thing.
I also had limited access to the DBA Studio thing... and I ESPECIALLY
couldn't start a certain Service as it said something was not allowing to
start up.... what that was I can't remember....
Anyway, I basically want to be able to say I can install FULLY Oracle 8i on
Windows 2000.
Is the downloadable Trial version a FULL working version? And with all
these TOOLS that Oracle offers I had a hard time figuring out which one I
should really use...
I am used to Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer in SQL Server 2000.....
so there were only 2 choices....With Oracle it seems you got every verions
they ever made from day one and they just keep each one going....that cause
a lot of confusion for me...
Thanks....

Yes the 8i downloads from OTN are full versions. The only difference is in
the license terms.
You do not state which version of 8i you are running so you need to make
certain that you are using a supported version (8.1.6 or higher) on Win2000.
There are some issues with supported programs under 8.1.6 so take a look
at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/produ...toc.htm#757016
for more information
