    Free Controls - Where from

    Hi,
Just getting back into programming. I am a VB6 Pro user. with XP sp3
Many years ago I used to have a few sets of free controls which I used to use.
They consisted of progress bars, meters and the like.
I can no longer find the source on my system.

Wonder does anyone know of such a set of controls for use with VB6.

    Regards BigKev

    Troll through PlanetSourceCode...

If you are getting back into programming why are you doing so with VB6 rather than VB.NET?

Basically , Its what I have

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, as subject says, basically its what i have, what i'm used to and I'm getting on in age. Not really up for the challenge of a new learning curve.

What I used to use when I did it for work. is slowly coming back but a lot of gaps.

I do have Visual Studio 2008, so far not even loaded it on the system.
Maybe your prompt will tempt me if I find a few days spare.

    Regards

    Just seen why not loaded

    Hi
Just noticed why I didn't load it..

It's academic version which puts restrictions on whether I can distribute the software I write...

    Ah well.

The Free Express versions have no such restrictions and can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site.

Actually, VB6 comes with a wide range of controls, but they are not included by default in a new project.
Type Ctrl+T, or select from the main menu Project->Components..., look in the list for all the controls that start with Microsoft, probably what you are looking for is Microsoft Windows Common Controls 6.0

Cool Free Controls - Where from? followup

    PlanetSourceCode

    Which I think you suggested....

I found some source code for gauges. Also looks like I may be able to modify them to my own settings but will have to read them all a little more closely.
which might not be till next week now.

As for the current project, I have left it with the ms progressbar, which is quite adequate for this piece of software.

P.S. I am really enjoying getting back to programming. But huge amounts of gaps in my memory still. But guess what, I now know a place to ask .
    Thanks

    Big Kev
