VB6 - detect USB serial port - read and write to it

    HI all
Think the title covers it, but I'll expand...

I have a serial device, a radio (HAM).
I have a USB to Serial cable.

How in VB6 do I find out what port it is on?
Could be anything from COM1 to COM64 I think it is...
and other devices (USB) can also be connected to the computer.

    Regards Big Kev

Why don't you connect it straight to the 9 pin COM1 port and not worry about it?

Basically because the laptop does not have a COM port?

Also want to make sure it would run on a notebook, which I believe no longer have them either!

    Thanks for the reply
