Multi-protocol Encryption
After researching a number of docs on Microsoft and other sites, I am unable
to get SQL 7.0 SP2 Multi-protocol Encryption to work.
When I use the Client Network Utility and check the "Force protocol encryption"
box and attempt to connect, I receive an error stating "Server: Msg 20, Level
16, State 1 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]Encryption
not supported on SQL Server". Your help would be appreaciated.
--------- background ----------
On the client, I have enabled TCP/IP, Named Pipes, and Multiprotocol. Using
the Server Network Utility, I have made these protocols active. I have also
created the following registry key on the client:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\Microsoft
\MSSQLServer
\Client
\RPCNetlib
Value Name: Security
Data Type: REG_SZ
String: Encrypt
