Upgrading SQL Server 6.5 to 7.0
Hi,
I've been using SQL 6.5 (SP3), and trying upgrade to SQL 7. I have SQL
7 installed, and use the Upgrade Wizard to upgrade the database from 6.5
to 7. I went through all the way until the error dialog box came up with
"Preparing SQL-DMO for upgrade.out" file.
Inside this file -- "The ODBC catalog stored procedures installed on
server SUPBNHNSS697 are version 6.50.215; version 07.00.0523 or later is
required to ensure proper operation. Please contact your system administrator.

Any idea to help? Besides, can you tell me whether the upgrade will
affect the web access to the databases? If so, how to prevent the problem?
Thank you.

Re: Upgrading SQL Server 6.5 to 7.0
Make sure your 6.5 has the latest service pack from microsoft before running
the sql7 upgrade.
Web access will be determind by the users and roles setup in sql 7, you will
have to re-establish these after the upgrade.

Re: Upgrading SQL Server 6.5 to 7.0
I did not have to recreate logins after upgrading but be aware that upgrading
to 7.0 still keeps the 6.5 ruleset in place unless you change the database
compatibility level use sp_dbcmplevel and set the level to 70. This old
ruleset is used to make sure you don't get any unexpected results until you
can upgrade your apps to take advantage of the 7.0 ruleset. For a complete
list of rule changes, go here
