    Error: [Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

    Hi,

    I just installed MS SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine. The process went successfully, the database is running, but for some reason i can't access it. I am getting this weird message:

    Error:

    [Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

    Anybody know what is wrong?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for reply :-)

    i read this article, but still a bit confused.

    I am trying to access SQL Server through command prompt, from the same machine i as the SQL Server.

    I checked protocols already and looks like i got all needed once. SQL Server is running on the background, but why i can't access it through command line i can't figure out

    any ideas????

    I am facing the same error, while running through cmd prompt its working. But running through ksh scripts it was throwing the below error [Shared Memory]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
    [Shared Memory]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
    Error in Index Check Procedure - rpt_check_index.ksh; Return code is 1 on Tue Sep 3 03:22:05 EDT 2013
