SQL Server installation on client machine
Hi,
just wondering if it is possible to install SQL Server 7.0 (server components)
onto Win NT or 2000 workstations. The full version i.e. not Desktop Ed or
client components.
Tried to do it but get message during installation saying that only the client
components will be installed.
Or can I setup a database with only the client components installed?
thanks

Re: SQL Server installation on client machine
You can use the client setup (desktop ed) to manage a complete SQL server
either on your PC or the server on a Win98/NT4.0/Win2K system. It is not
possible to install the actual SQL Server to a desktop system; the installation
file is looking for certain files that define a "server". If you create the
database on your PC and you find that you need it on the actual database
server, you can use the import/export or replication tools to move the database.
