SQL 7.0 Mail and Outlook client
We've configured SQL Server to use Outlook for the two SQL Mail features
(incl. SQLAgentMai), and can generate our e-mail messages. We've run into
a problem, however, when Outlook is not running on the server. Is there any
way that SQL Server can just send the messages? It obviously knows the Outlook
client exists, since it automatically stores any e-mails generated, and hands
them off to Outlook when Outlook is restarted. Aside from writing an exe
that launches Outlook as part of a DTS package (or slapping the people around
who "inadvertently" shut down Outlook), is there any way to do this through
SQL Server settings, etc.
Any help in bringing our Server management kicking and screaming into the
21st Century would be appreciated.
