Question for authors: future of C#

There is a big demand on .NET. Remember this technology emerged from Microsoft
and it will be supported by Microsoft, so it has big market.

C# is really a mixture of Java & C++ -Concepts & syntax wise-.
My personnal opinion C# will be used widely, because it is accepted in the
indusrty, it is created by Microsoft, and it is supported by Microsfot Community
-Vendors and Developers -.

Things may be a little slow in this newsgroup, but I see the success of C#
as inevitable :-)

Seriously, while the other .NET languages (VB.NET, MC++, etc.) all service
interesting niche (and in some cases, not-so-niche) markets, for my money C#
represents the best combination of power, expressiveness and simplicity for
a wide range of problems.

IMO, it's no accident that the two major platforms we'll all be working on
in the future (.NET and J2EE) have eerily similar languages - C# and Java
both represent good applications of the 80/20 rule to language design.

I'm not sure you can judge the market by the traffic in this or any other
newsgroup. Microsoft has "bet the company" on .NET, and given the quality
of the product it is hard to see how the market can be anything but huge.
That said, we're still looking at a beta product; my guess is that we'll see
tremendous movement to C# from C++ and from Java (and to some degree from
VB6) over the next 24 months.
