    Scheduling jobs

I am having a problem with scheduling any time of job. Even if I save the
job using DTS I get this error: "The job failed. The Job was invoked by
Schedule 5 (Schedule 1). The last step to run was step 1 (Step 1)."

Has anyone run across this type of error.

We are running SQL Server 2000. I would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you very much.

I think that you have to log the DTS and the job to get more info, than you
    can try solve the error.

    To log DTS
Inside de DTS design, click on:
    Package
    Properties
    Logging
    Error file ( type a txt file, p.e. c:\logs\mydts.txt)

    To log Job
    In edit step, Advanced split:
Output File (tye a txt file)
You have to do it for all stpes in your job.
You can choice the same file to all steps (in 1st step
choice Overwrite and Append to the other steps)
or you can choice one different file to which step.

    Re: Scheduling jobs

Normando, First, Thank you so much for the advice. Our department has been
working on the problem. Part of the problem has been that the SQL Agent was
not set up correctly when it was installed. We think that part of the problem
has been rectified. But, we are still having problems. Using a relatively
simple job of importing flat files and doing some trasformations on hundreds
of thousands records the DTS locks up at about the 6,000th record leaving
several hundreds of thousands behind. If the same DTS is excuted manually,
    it runs perfectly. Any suggestions?
