    Problem In Java Mail Program

    when I run the code from the book "Professional Java Server Pages" page no.260
    (SendMail Servlet) , the code compiles properly, but at run time an exception
    is thrown.
    It is of type java.lang.nullpointer.
    On testing i found that the error is coming on the line with the code

    Session session = Session.getInstance(properties,null);

    I am trying to write a servlet to send across the mail I write.
    please help me solve this problem.

    yours sincerely

    rajeev,

    u r trying to get direct instance in that line of code instead use

    Session session=Session.getDefaultInstance(properties,null);

    There is a difference between getInstance() and getDefaultInstance().

    I'm sure ur problem will be solved by this code.

    byee..
