    file accesibility

    Hi all,

    Got a Q.
A File is slowly put (approx. 10 / 15 seconds using ftp and modem) on a
    harddisk.
Another polling mechanism searches every second for this file, when
found the process starts to read.

I want to check that the file is written completely. Because the
reading process start before the ftp process is ended.

java.io.File offers some functions (canWrite, canRead). But that only
checks file permissions and NOT accesbility. The descriptions about
security and file permissions are VERY vague.

Can anyone help me, with the right checking method / procedure.

    Re: file accesibility

Create the file with a temporary name, not the one your other process is
looking for. When the file is written completely, rename it to have the
    correct name.
