Win98/ME vs. W2K performance
It seems like java runs a lot faster in W2K. Anyone else noticed this or
have some decent benchmarks of the different VMs on different OS. Most of
the benchmarks I've seen are pretty old.
My app does call some c++ functions via JNI and this may be where the problem
lies between W2K and 98/ME, but wanted to find out if anyone out there had
done some extensive benchmarking of the VMs and OSs.
thanks,
-Carlos
PS. Currently using IBMs VM as it is 10 to 20% faster than hotspot in my
experience (on W2K).

Re: Win98/ME vs. W2K performance
I don't know because I don't use 98(anymore) or ME. 98 kept crashing on me
and I know lots of people who have deinstalled ME for the same reasons.
My experience with windows 9X in the past is that it doesn't handle memory
very well.
My suggestion is that if you have a choice don't waste your time comparing.
Use NT (NT/W2k/XP) technology.
