    Problem:Error Deploy a simple EBJ to Weblogic6.1?

    Hello:
I use jbuilder5.0 to deploy EBJ to weblogic6.1.but It appear message:
    C:\jbuilder5\jdk1.3\bin\javaw -classpath ";C:\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic.jar;"
    weblogic.deploy deploy 12345678 quickstart_web3 C:/jbuilder5/jbproject/quickstart_web/quickstart_web.jar
Warning: No targets were specified. Your application will not be deployed
    anywhere.
To specify a target for your component, use the -component argument
    Done deploying quickstart_web3 with .\config\mydomain\.wlstaging\quickstart_web3.jar

and I need "apply" or "Active" the EBJ in weblogic server console.

why ? How to deploy EJB to weblogic use JBuilder5?

    Please help me!
    Thank you!

That is so funny. I am making build scripts using the exact same configuration
as you. I am getting the exact same error as you. I got frustrated and
decided to take a break. I clicked open my favorites folder in IE and clicked
on this newsgroup which I have been frequenting alot lately. And bam, the
exact problem I'm having this very second you just posted.. weird.?.

Anyways, like yourself I have tried nearly everything. I am packaging my
EJBs in an ear file. The EAR contains a MyApp.WAR and a MyAppEJB.jar. When
I try to deploy the EAR it says "Warning: No targets were specified. Your
application will not be deployed anywhere." just as u said. You cannot deploy
EAR fles using the -component option so I tried to deploy just MyAppEJB.jar
    instead and it says

    weblogic.j2ee.DeploymentException: Application MyApplicationEJB does not
    contain component MyApplicationEJB.jar

I'm stumped but I'm working on it now and if I make progress I'll be sure
    to post...

I dont know if u noticed but the weblogic console (browser) says the application
is installed fine and deployed. Running the list option with weblogic.deploy
does not list the application on the server contrary to the console. (This
    did work on WL6.0)

I created a java test client to test the ejbs but I get a nullPointerException
    when trying to getInitialContext()...

Still working on it! (All you WL6.1 deployment gurus, jump in anytime!)

I think you have to go to the right pane in the console and explicity "load"
the web or ejb applications. I am presuming you all are runnign the server
in production mode. Perhaps if you switched over to development mode then
"hot-deploy" would be enabled and simply copying the jar in the appropriate
place under your respective domain will work.

I have not experimented with "hot deploy" in development mode myself. But
I am runnign EJBs under WL 6.1 just fine. So try what I said. Click on
Applications in LHS Pane then "load" your JAR explicitly from the "browse"
functionality available in the RHS pane. Watch the message on the RHS for
errors. Sometimes you may not see an error there but there may still be
a problem. So also check your WL startup window for exceptions.

    Best Regards

Re: Problem:Error Deploy a simple EBJ to Weblogic6.1?

Thanks for the suggestion Saurabh! My problem was my ejb test clients were
pointing to the weblogic 6.0 jar.. DOH! Thats why I get a NullPointerException
when getting the initial context.. Sorry for the late reply!

BTW: I did switch to development mode and hot deploy works fine.. I stopped
using my own cooked up scripts and am now using ANT to package and deploy
    which works fine.

    Thanks again Saurabh

    hi..
deploying ejb's in weblogic 6.1 is very simple.
take ur home ,remote and bean classes and make one standard jar using jar
    -cv0f utility.
after this try to run java weblogic.ejbc for standard jar.
suppose ur standard jar name is x.jar than the command is java weblogic.ejbc
    x.jar y.jar
here y.jar is ur expected dout put jar.
now open the console and browse for this jar and upload it.it'll store in
    bea\wlserver\confg\mydomain\applications directory.but u have to set the
    class path in weblogic start.cmd for bea\wlserver\lib\weblogic.jar;

    thx..
    seshu
