There is a company called Bristol tech. www.bristol.com
they have develop classes (JPrinter) to do just that for both windows and
unix. If your in bind to get this program up and working. you might want
to give them a look. But if you want to do it yourself you will need to a
java native (Java to C++) application. The C++ part can get into the OS and
the network to find the printer your are looking for.
I am in the process of developing a app. that will work with many different
printers and I plan on using the JPrinter JClient
to handle the network and the printers.
