Yes and no. You <i>should</i> be fine as long as you're serializing your
own custom classes (assuming they have no 1.2 specific code) or serializing
something from one of the more stable packages. If your intent is to introduce
1.2 functionality in a 1.1 environment, you're probably out of luck.
The best advice I can offer you is to try it and see.
