JDBC insert
How to I know which position the row was inserted at when executing the
following code:
stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO users (username, email) VALUES ('Test',
'test@test.com')");
The application should actually return the primary key from the inserted row
(a field called "uid"). I've looked everywhere in the JDBC API and it seems
like Sun forgot to add something like a getInsertionPosition() method.
Any help is greatly appreciated,

Re: JDBC insert
Hi,
I can think of one round-about way to do this. write a database after insert
trigger for the USERS table. this trigger will capture the ROWID value from
the USERS table and store it in a temp table (as DB triggers cannot return
values). after the execUpd in the Java code, make a call to the temp table,
get the rowid value and use that to get the UID from USERS table
also, ensure that AutoCommit is not on. i have given this based on the assumption
that you are using Oracle.
