Hi,
I want to write a simple applet that counts the number of people who have
visited my website. (I know I can download one myself, but that defeats
the purpose of learning Java.) I've tried storing the number of people in
a file "counter.txt", but that doesn't seem to work. Is this the way to
go?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
