Java Text Development Environment
Can anyone tell me where I can download a free and reliable editor for writing
Java 2? I don't need a whole visual IDE (yet). I'm just looking to get started.
Thanks!

Re: Java Text Development Environment
Take a look at the java.sun.com site and look for the Forte Community Edition
IDE. It is great even for some enterprise development tasks.

Re: Java Text Development Environment
If you just want a text editor, try NoteTab Light (www.notetab.com).

Re: Java Text Development Environment
Or try AnyJ (see: http://www.netcomputing.de).
In my eyes it's one of the best Java development systems at the moment. It's
autocompletion and indexing features are great to learn the core APIs and
to examine others code.
(And the best: It's free for Linux and cheap for Windows)
