new browser windows form applets

I want to make a applet create a new browser window of a certain size is there
anyway to do this?

1) getAppletContext().showDocument(URL,"_blank") will display the URL on
new browser window, but you wont have control on its dimension.

2) define a popup function (javascript) with sizing params in parent document/html;
have applet invoking popup function via netscape.javascript.JSObject.
