    ServerSide vs. ClientSide

Mainly the question is on the concept and not on the coding, I need to connect
to a large database thru a web browser, making certain query, then passing
retreived data to an ActiveX control that produces an HTML-based report.

The problem is do I need to get all the replied Recordset onto the client
side, bearing in mind the big size of the database, then passing it to the
ActiveX control. Is this obligatory or I can manage the processing stuff
on the server side with the output HTML only gets to the client side. Please
    clarify.

If you are using an ActiveX control then it probably expects its input to be
in a particular format, so any processing you do on the server must output
that format. However, if you are selecting a subset of the database, then
you should try to do that on the server if possible.
