Re: Visual J++ and Java 2
Visual J++ is a developer tool, compiler, that can be used in developing
programs in Java.
Other compilers are availble to write programs in Java: JBuilder from Inprise/Borland
and the Java
Development Kit from SUN to name a couple.
Depending on the version of J++, it can be used to write programs that comply
to the Java 2 specifications.

Re: Visual J++ and Java 2
Do you know what version of J++ is comparable to Java 2. I have a copy of
J++ version 1.1 but I can find in any of the documentation if it is Java
2 or JDK 1.2 compatible.
Is there a better developers tool out there that we should focus on using?
I am currently using Forte for Java Community Edition and I am not very
impressed.

Re: Visual J++ and Java 2
I believe MS java is static at jdk 1.1.4 - no where near java 2 and not
likely to every get there.

forget about visual j++. microsoft has abandoned it long time ago. they put
out rumors of creating something called Cool but
then abandoned it also. if you don't mind keep paying MS, check
out their latest junk called c#. you can at least get a good laugh...

J++ was always a bit too convoluted to use with ease, but C# is free and its
actually quite good, and its looking like it could be very very powerful
indeed given that you can use almost any language your familiar with to
develop your solutions, no need to learn anything new, just alter what your
doing a bit. So Java devs, VB devs, C devs, Cobol devs, etc will not need
to reaquire skills to use it. Doesn't matter how you look at it - the
market hype is real enough, it may well suprise lots of people.
