    Java and Windows Registry

Could Java be used to access the Windows registry? and could it be used to
extract icons from a registry and create a full fledged directory treeview
    and listview?

I am just curious...I am working on an implementation of an application that
requires a explorer view with a treeview and listview on the right side and
a pane dedicated to the page opened on the right. The treeview and listview
have to read from the windows filesystem and should not be hardcoded. and
the whole thing should be on the web.

    thanks

You have to use the Java Native Interface. If you are used to the JNI its
    pretty easy to use.
Maybe the MS JVM offers a still easier access?

    Hope this helps
