    The code are as follows:
    FileDialog fd = new FileDialog(new Frame(), "Open Testing File", FileDialog.l);
    fd.show();
    System.out.println(fd.getName());

    The error message as:

    try this code..

    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.io.*;
    class myframe extends Frame
    {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
    {
    myframe obj=new myframe();
    obj.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    Button b=new Button("click");
    b.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
    FileDialog fd = new FileDialog(new Frame(), "Open Testing File", FileDialog.LOAD);
    fd.show();
    System.out.println(fd.getFile());
    }
    });
    obj.add(b);
    obj.setSize(200,200);
    obj.setVisible(true);

    }
    }
