Hi,

im having a lil problem with my SuSe Linux 8.0 distribution and Java -
i know i could use jdk 1.4, but constraints are that i develop using
1.3.1_02, so i downloaded the sun xml package and put the files into
/jre/lib/ext/ as suggested.

Every time i comile my example code ( from a book... ) i get the message
from the SAXException: System property org.xml.sax.driver not specified.

I can handle Linux at least a bit, but compared to windows im quite a
nub here.

If any of you could tell me how to fix this up or better how and where
to set the classpath itd be great - thx in advance.

Volker

Code of the example:

import java.io.IOException;
import org.xml.sax.*;
import org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler;
import org.xml.sax.helpers.XMLReaderFactory;

public class Skeleton{

public static void main( String[] args ){

XMLReader producer;
DefaultHandler consumer;

try{
producer = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader();
} catch ( SAXException se ){
System.out.println("Error: Cant get parser, please check your
configuration:" + se.getMessage());
return;
}

System.out.println("This is a test!");

try{
consumer = new DefaultHandler();

producer.setContentHandler(consumer);

producer.setErrorHandler(consumer);
} catch ( Exception e ){
System.out.println("Cannot set consumers: " + e.getMessage());
return;
}

// Do the parse!

try{
producer.parse( args[0] );
} catch ( IOException ie ){
System.err.println("I/O error!");
} catch ( SAXException se ){
System.err.println("Parsing error...");
se.printStackTrace();
}
}
}
