    JAVA read file problem

    Could anyone can tell me how to read a txt file line by line with DataInputStream?

    I also want to check it is EOF or not.

    Thank you.

    You don't use a DataInputStream to read a text file.

    Use a FileReader, and wrap it in a BufferedReader:

    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileRead("YourFile.txt");

    and then use the readLine() method, which returns null when it reaches EOF:

    String line = null;
    while ((null = br.readLine()) != null) {
    // process "line" here
    }
