Trying to remove item from JComboBox dynamically

Hi I want an editable JComboBox in my program to be dynamically built. I can
successfully add items in it by using ActionListener Interface .(i.e box.addItem(e.getSource.getSelectedItem()),
when user types new string in the ComboBox and presses "Return" key.

But I am unable to find a way to remove an item which user first selects
from the current items of JComboBox.

Kindly enlighten me with some logic.

    regards,

Use a model and modify the model.
