1.What is the necessities of mentioning classpath?

2.wheather it is required compulsory to include class path at the autoexec.bat
file.
3.Can i run a programme without mentioning classpth?

Acually i h've run java programme without mentioning classpath.(I
m working on JDK 2 Win98 environment)So if a prgramme is running without
classpath then what is its necesity?
