Hi,

I hope someone can help me. Me and some fellow students need to create an applet that can interact with a Postgre SQL database. We are creating the applet in Jbuilder8. To test the applet we need to instal the JDBC in Jbuilder so it understands what to do. (the JDBC driver is downloaded from http://jdbc.postgresql.org/download.html ...we have used JDBC3 of the latest stable drivers)

When we run the applet in Jbuilder everything works fine, but when we run the applet in a browser (we use IE 6.0) it can't connect.

Our best guess is that IE 6.0 also needs something like the JDBC driver, but we do not know if this is true. Below is our connection methode although our passwords etc. have been removed and has been replaced with an *.

If anyone can help me, thnx.

public void connect() {
//Driver is loaded here:
try {
Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver");
}
catch( ClassNotFoundException ex) {
System.out.println("Fout! " + ex.toString());
}
//Trying to connect with database:
try {
String databaseNaam = "*";
String gebruikersNaam = "*";
String password = "*";
String url = "jdbc:postgresql://*.*.*.nl:*/*";
conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, gebruikersNaam, password);
stmt = conn.createStatement();
connected=true;
System.out.println( "Database open" );
}
catch( SQLException ex) {
System.out.println("Fout! " + ex.toString());
connected=false;
}
}
