Oracle 8i
I am attempting to install Oracle 8i on Red Hat 7. When I run the
runInstaller file I recieve the following error
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /usr/local/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
Error in CreateOUIProcess(): -1
: Permission denied
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: Oracle 8i
Check the following to see if it works:
1. Check you JVM version to see if it matches the one required in the installation
guide (Oracle 8i depends
heavily on JVM version though it seems strange;
2. Try using KDE instead of GNOME (Gnome's usual WM enlightment might cause
the problem);
3. run runInst.sh from under install/linux instead of runInstaller.
Good luck

Are you attempting to perform the install directly from a CD? I have received a
similar message when installing from a CD on Solaris. You might try copying the
CD onto the hard drive and install from there.
Good luck.

Re: Oracle 8i
The problem is with gcc libraries, get the ones that come with 6.2
I installed it with JVM 1.1.6v5 (or something like that) from blackdown.org
