office problem
I have installed Red Hat Linux 8.0
I have two questions:
1. Do I have to buy Red Hat Linux before using it like windows or is it a
GNU type free operating system ?
2. After installing for a few days Office Spreadsheet, word like document,
etc. were running fine. Now whenever I start them, they don't start, after a
long time only the starting window comes up and nothing more happens. System
kind of hangs up. What could be the reason for this hanging of system and
slowdown ???

It's all free software if you didn't buy a boxed set (where maybe commercial
software is included). If you bought a boxed set, it's still free if the
commercial apps get installed at only one PC. Why don't you take a look at
the licenses at RedHat.com to be sure?

This is the same if I asked you where *I* got *my* that last virus from (Which
btw. isn't possible on my Linux Mandrake). You couldn't answer that without
asking me alot more questions. So please be more specific about:
What did you do last before the problem occured?
What software did you install/deinstall?
What did you do/read to get the problem solved?
**(If nothing helps and no files can get lost, a fresh install helps definitely.)**
What is your desktop environment?
Which settings did you apply?
What office suite do you use (name of the program)?
...
It's just the same that a Windows support guy would ask you and tell you.
So, if you want helpful answers please ask questions that help people to
answer you.
