    schemas

I need to know about the implementation of DOM API functionality on XML based
    on schemas (and not DTDs).
Are schemas replacing DTDs in the industry. Are there standard parsers available
    for the purpose.

Yes, schemas are likely to replace DTDs; however most parsers will probably
continue to support DTDs for quite some time. The Xalan (Java) parser is
currently the most compliant with the W3C schema recommendation. Microsoft
supports a proprietary version called XDR schemas in the current release,
but plans to upgrade quickly to a version compliant with the W3C
    recommendation.
