    forensic computing

I am new to IT and web development and am toying with the idea of going into
forensic computing. Is there anyone out there who can give me some idea of
the levels of experience in programming etc required? It would be a complete
career change for me - and at 35 I can't afford to spend unnecessary time
and money going down an interesting but ultimately non-productive road which
    wouldn't lead to employment.

I assume by forensic computing you mean assisting law enforcement with recovering
relevant data from computers related to criminal investigations? That sounds
to me like pretty high-end stuff (needing quite a bit of background experience
to overcome various hardware/software obstacles). You might want to broaden
your horizon to "security consultant" and check out cramsession.com or cissp.com
for job/qualification-type info. Don't try to run before you learn how to
    crawl...
