    Correction: Reading Summary/Shortcut File Properties

I wasn't specific enough in my prior post.

I need to get at the file properties on the "Summary" and
"Shortcut" tabs that appear in the dialog box you see when you
right-click on an object in Windows Explorer and choose
    "Properties".

I've found examples that read file properties using the
FileSystemObject that you get with Windows scripting, but
this gives you access only to data on the "General" tab of the
Properties dialog box. I need to read the information on the
"Summary" tab that appears for MS Office and some other types
of files, and the "Shortcut" tab for Windows shortcuts.

Anyone know how to get at the data on the Summary and Shortcut
    tabs?

    Millard,

I hope someone replies to this post because I asked you to post it again. I
don't have a clue as to how to retrieve the 'extra' information. But someone
    will.

    Cheers,

    Hi!

    Check out Eduardo Morcillo's site:
    http://www.domaindlx.com/e_morcillo/default.asp

It got type libs, some samples and info on OLE storage documents and how to
    retrieve the properties.

    Regards,

    Sixto

Re: Correction: Reading Summary/Shortcut File Properties

    Hi Millard,

If you want the file properties that appear on the file summary info dialog
of Word & other Office files, then they can be read using VB with the aid of
a small ActiveX DLL available from Microsoft. Go to
    http://support.microsoft.com/support.../Q224/3/51.ASP

The download includes the DLL itself, plus the source code for a small
VB5/VB6 project that demonstrates its use.

If you want to read the file version properties of DLLs and similar
executable files, go to www.mvps.org/vb/ and download Karl Peterson's
FileInfo.zip. It includes two class modules, CFileInfo and CFileVersionInfo.
The latter gives you access to DLL versions etc.
