    detect Operating System and IIS version


    Can anyone tell me how to detect operating system like Windows 98, NT 4.0
    Server (+ service pack installed) and also version of IIS installed?

    IIS probably requires a registry read, and I've never bothered with that. I
    definitely don't recall a specific API for that task.

    At least on my PC (XP Pro.) the IIS version is located in the following
    registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\InetMgr\Parameters

    Look at the MajorVersion and MinorVersion DWORD values.
