Call VB function from SQL statement

Can I write my own VB function (in my standalone VB 6 application) and call
it from within an SQL statement (I can do this in Excel)?

If so, how is that done?

Is there a difference between how I would do this on my local machine or
how I would query an SQL server database?

Depending on what your VB function is doing you might find that you can use
T-SQL in a stored procedure to implement your function. OTH, SQL server
can call an ActveX DLL built with VB. If you have SQL Server books online
available check in the index for 'OLE Automation Objects in Transact-SQL'

    Check my examples:

1)How to use ActiveX DLL or EXE in SQL stored procedures.

2)How to imitate 2D Array in SQL stored procedures.
