Help ! AS/400 ODBC connection in VB

I cannot figure out how to establish an ODBC connection in my VB application
to a DB2 table on AS/400 that is on the same nwtwork.I have successfully
done this for SQL and Access tables in the servers on the same network. Help!

    Jay,

I believe that you need an ODBC driver for the AS/400 - IBM call it Client
Access or something like that - which adds itself to the list of ODBC data
source types available. You can then add an ODBC data source of that type
through the control panel. If you need to specify the connection within
VB, I think that you can create a data source as above then copy and paste
the connection string (I'm not sure about that part; it was a while ago).
Remember that the ODBC server software must be running on the AS/400.

    Hope this helps.
    Simon.

    Jay,

Do you have an ODBC driver or OLE DB Provider to communicate with DB2 on
the 400? Client Access from IBM provides an ODBC driver that works well,
and Microsoft provides an OLE DB Provider with SNA Server that works well
    also.

    Help!

    Hello Jay,

here another tip: ther are 2 Versions of IBM Client Access availible for
    32-Bit ODBC Connection:

    Version 3 Modifikation 2 Release 0 and
Version 4 Modifikation 4 Relaese 0 (newer Version)

for both Versions are Servicepacks availible, you must use them:
    for V3 R2 M0 at least SF57002 or SF59075 or higher
    for V4 R4 M0 at least SF57098 or higher

If you have a Client Access-Licence (5250-Emulation or so..), so have the
    ODBC-Driver too,
the servicepacks are availible under : http://www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess/
    for free.
For Accessing DB/400 you must create an USER-DSN at the ODBC-Admin in WIN-OS.

    Good Luck
    Timmy
