Designing an optimal wireless website
As I was working with wireless Internet websites, I realized that without
having accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive profile information on mobile
devices, mobile browsers, gateways, and wireless networks, I couldn’t design
a user-friendly site that could optimally support myriads of mobile devices
used by my customers. Industry standards such as CC/PP and XHTML Basic are
a good start but they haven’t eliminated the need for this profile information.
Per Gartner Group, “by 2004, companies will have to support a minimum of
50 different mobile device profiles and 10 different wireless network interfaces
at once…” Whether I use a transcoder product such as IBM WebSphere Transcoder
Publisher or my own custom solution, having the profile information is a
must.
Well, I have developed a product that has made my life easier, which will
allow me to focus on development and not worry about gathering and maintaining
the profile information that changes constantly. Why don’t you also give
it a try and let me know what you think about the product? It is available
for free at: http://www.arkdom.com/.
