When we sit to design a database for a web site what are the important things

    Nick,
I may be a bit naive, but why would there be any difference if you wre
going to "design a database for a web site", whatever that may mean.

You design the database to handle the data that you need, or have. You may
need to add speicifc tools to be able of retrieve the data efficieintly for
a web application, but the fact that the data is to be retrieved over the
web probably has very little impact on the actual design of the database
    itself.
