    Adding attachment

    Hi,
I have web application with Access 97 backend. I am trying to add an attachment
like an email. This attachment will associated one particuilar id. When user
come back we should be able to see the attachment. Kind of like a defect
tracking application and one defect will have multiple attachment.

How can I add that attachement with a browse button so user can select the
file from their PC and then able to add with that defect?

    Please let me know.

    thanks,
    Moon

    Hi,

You need to code or add a library or component that uses base64 decoding
capabilities. This is what is needed to support attachments with your
email. There are a number of 3rd party controls that support this decoding
capability. There may also be some source code floating around that you
can try as well however I am not sure on that one.

    Hi yas,

I have found a great deal of examples out there on Base64 encodeing but all
the source I've seen is painfully slow (4MB in 1 hour!!!) The best route
so far I've found is a third party control or write your own encoder using
C++. I don't think Visual Basic has the facilities to handle the bit by
bit handling required to encode data in the way Base64 requires. (I've been
trying to find a way, but to no avail.)
