Speed up comparing of 2 .MDB databases.

    Hi,
I am trying to speed up the comparing process I have. The program will compare
the 2 databases and report and missing data in the newest database. Currently
I have the database in JetEngine format. The databases range from 200 megs
to 2 gigs. So far it takes 29 hours for it to compare about 2.5 million enteries,
anyway I can speed up the process?

First up I would have to say 'big chocolate fish' to the person for getting
an mdb to that size and still being able to use it!

It's hard to know where to start with this one! I assume both are Access97/2000?
And you aren't considering MSDE/SQLServer or using replication to campare?

If so, are you comparing every field in each table or just a timestamp field?
Does the comparison process use code or sql statements or a mix? All I
can hint at is sql will be faster than code if used in certain ways that
make use of it's predicate logic. Otherwise maybe your answers will help
    someone else attempt this one.

Do/can you ever compact that database? What can you put in Jet to make it
    so big???

    Greg.
(I'm just full of questions today!)

    Your "Kiwi-ness" is showing...

We have a couple of Kiwis over here where I work, and they both rave about
chocolate fish. They even get them sent over to them.
