type mismatch in openRecordset in Access 2000

Hi, I am encounting a strange problem in the following code.
    dim db1 as Database
    dim rec1 as Recordset
    set db1 = currentDb
    '*******
    set rec1 = db1.openRecordset ("Select * from table1", dbOpenDynaset)
    '*******

the code between the "******" give me the type mismatch problem.
Note: I check the MS Access 9.0 and MS DAO 3.6 for reference.

The above code is similar to what is describe in help menu and works in Access
    79.

    Help will be appreciate!

    G'day Ken.

Check to see if you have ADO referenced. If so, the "As Recordset" declaration
will create a recordset of the library that is referenced higher in the references
    list....

    Cheers,
    Paul
