What would a "Linux" distro by Microsoft look like?
I was thinking about the various Linux distributions and wondered just
what a Linux distributed by Microsoft might look like? Would it be
open source, except for that "little bit in the corner", which is
proprietary? Would it require on-line licensing before working? Would
one be permitted to make 10,000 copies and give them away for free?
Microsoft *could* make a deal of money just by providing the kinds of
things it has done well at in the past, such as packaging, and acting
as "honest broker" for the thousands of developers around the world
who maintain Linux for nothing.
