Hosting webservices
I am eager to try out the new webservices stuff. I think I can work out the
programmatic things (one at a time). My problem is one of configuration.
What do I need to deploy a webservice ? Do I need a server at home with a
fixed IP-address ? (my current provider subscription explicitly disallows
any IP-tricks too keep my IP address variable but known) Do I seek for a
specific provider that has .NET server ?
I mean : I can try this at home in a LAN but I would really like these to be
real tests. It's hard to imagine what a 56K Modem user experiences when you
test on a 100 Mb LAN.

Re: Hosting webservices
Willy,
I am currently using a company called rjsNetworks
(http://www.rjsnetworks.com) for my wifes Visionized.com site
(http://www.visionized.com Currently still under ASP 2 with ASP.NET version
comming along nicely). rjs is only offering .NET on their Enterprise
subscription. BUT you are in luck, there are many others out there for you
to choose from if you want.
For what you are doing, I would recommend Brinkster
(http://www.brinkster.com/) but you can also check out the Action Jackson
site (http://www.actionjackson.com/hosts/search.asp) and check the "ASP.NET"
button at the bottom right corner of the page. This will give a decent list
of hosts that accomodate .NET.
Hope this helps,
Cal

Re: Hosting webservices
The Startup tab has a list of current partners under the 'Web Hosting' tab.
I use eraserver for my hosting. You can find their address on one of the
partner tabs or go to www.eraserver.com

I'll have a look at the suggested sites and providers.

Re: Hosting webservices
When you get a chance, please post back your experience with the vendors. I
am considering the same issue and would like to learn more about the
alternatives and experience of working with these folks.
